In the year 2007, Vodafone launched M-PESA which is targeted at mobiles customers without bank accounts. It enables customers to make deposits and withdrawal of cash by means of local agents and transfer money to other users via SMS service. In the year 2009, Vodafone announced mHealth, which essentially works on the application of network technologies and mobile communications to healthcare systems. In order to support projects that make use of mobile technology for the advantage of the vulnerable, it has established the Vodafone Foundation. It often works in collaboration with other groups.
