National Industrial Classification
NIC Full Form is National Industrial Classification. NIC is a standard coding system, used in India, to categorize and classify various industrial fields by assigning each of them with unique codes. NIC plays a critical and crucial role in terms of maintaining data, and statistics of different industrial sectors. First introduced in 1962, system and methodology of NIC (known as Standard Industrial Classification till 1970) is controlled by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation of India.
The Central Statistical Organization (CSO) works under the respective ministerial department, and the industrial wing of this organization is the nodal authority to determine, analyze and publish NIC in India. NIC helps the government to use collected statistical and classification data in national economic policy, and further in the analysis and determination of international comparison.
NIC is derived from the data collected by surveying people related to the various industrial sectors and the consumers. These surveys are conducted by survey panels that include specialists and experts of the industrial field. Data is collected on the basis of the responses given to standard questionnaire. Statistical information is scrutinized, analyzed and then classification is performed. Till date, there are six standard industrial classifications which are NIC- 62, NIC- 70, NIC- 87, NIC- 98, NIC- 2004, and the latest one being NIC- 2008.
NIC Full Form: National Informatics Centre
Full Form of NIC is National Informatics Centre. NIC is an apex organization that mainly operates in the sector of information technology, communication technology, and informatics services. It has its branches located in every district under every state in India. Ajay Kumar is the current director general of NIC.
Founded in 1976 and headquartered in New Delhi, NIC is a specialized organization to deliver satisfactory telecommunication services across India. Department of Electronics and Information Technology is the parent organization of NIC. It operates under the supervision of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Almost all websites, that are related to operations and services of the Indian government, are designed, created and maintained by NIC. NIC is the major role player and the active authority to start the process of e-governance system in India. This service was designed by NIC so that there can be more transparency and scope of development in governmental services.
To ensure this and to spread more awareness about e-governance, NIC publishes an informative quarterly titled Informatics. Internet services, security over internet, creation and development of web-based services, computer networking, services related to informatics, assistance for registration of domain names for government related departments, CAD (Computer Aided Design) services — these are some of the notable and prominent functions of NIC.
Full Form of NIC: Network Interface Card
NIC Full Form refers to Network Interface Card. NIC is an effective hardware device that helps a computer to connect with a computer network. It is also known as Network Interface Controller. Most of the modern computers have this card or this circuit board installed within them.
This system uses a specific and certain physical layer standard data link layers like Token Ring, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. NICs can connect a computer to the network in both ways, through cables or wirelessly. NICs are used for building a full time and dedicated connection between the computer and the network. In most cases, this network is a LAN ( Local Area Network ).
The connection procedure includes a specified technology of LAN transmission. Modern NICs offers advanced services and features. These cards can perform multiple transmission queues and receive queues, offer DMA interface or interrupt services to the related host processors, perform partition into a number of logical interfaces, process the on-controller traffic of the network.
NIICs use both hardware-based and software-based distribution of related interrupts. RSS ( Receive Side Scaling ), RPS 9 Receive Packet Steering ), and RFS ( Receive Flow Steering ) are some of those distribution implementations. Nowadays, most NICs make use of Ethernet technology.
