IEEE Full Form is Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. It is pronounced as I – triple –E. It is an accredited association with corporate office operating in New York City. It was established in 1963 as a collaboration of AIEE (American Institute of Electrical Engineers) and IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers). Currently, it is the largest association in the world with over 400,000 technical professionals all over the world. The primary objective of IEEE is to enhance technical, and educational growth of EEE, computer engineering, and telecommunication engineering. The mission of IEEE is to promote technological excellence and innovation to benefit humanity. The vision is to be recognized universally for its contributions to technical professionals and technology in making global conditions better.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has its corporate office situated in New York City, the United States of America, and its operations center situated in Piscataway, New Jersey, the United States of America. The association was created in the year 1963, consequential to the merger of the Institute of Radio Engineers and the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Presently, IEEE is the biggest association comprising technical professionals across the globe. It currently operates through chapters across different parts of the world. The primary objective of the association is to drive technical and education advancement in the field of telecommunications, electrical and electronic engineering, and computer science.
The IEEE has been incorporated vide the Not-for-profit Corporation law operational in the state of New York. The association also has a standards development organization that develops industrial standards in various areas such as energy, electric power, healthcare, information assurance, information technology, consumer electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, transportation, and nanotechnology. It also has 39 technical societies, which are organized for specialized fields in the United States of America. The IEEE Standard Association is responsible for standardizing activities of the association.
In the year 2015, the IEEE History Center was made into a feeder organization to ETHW (which stands for Engineering and Technology History Wiki). In the following year, the IEEE had made acquisition of GlobalSpec and expanded the purview of the association. IEEE is credited to have produced in the neighborhood of 30 percent of the world’s literature in the fields of computer science and electronics engineering and has up till now published about 100+ peer-reviewed journals. It also organizes conferences and seminars from time to time and even conducts tutorials on many areas. Thus, IEEE is one of the key organizations for technical professionals.
