Full Form of ECE:
Electronics and Communication Engineering
ECE Full Form is Electronics and Communication Engineering. ECE is basically a field of engineering which usually deals with the application of electronics, electricity, and electromagnetism. It became a recognized occupation during the 19th century upon the commercialisation of the telephone, electric telegraph, and electric power use and distribution. Subsequently, recording media and broadcasting made electronics more popular. With the invention of the integrated circuit, electronics became a household necessity. ECE includes radio-frequency engineering, instrumentation, signal processing, telecommunications, power engineering, digital computers, control systems and microelectronics.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (abbreviated as IEEE) along with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (abbreviated as IET) is the main professional body in the field of ECE. In India, ECE can be studied as part of a Diploma course, Undergraduate course, and Post-graduate course. One can even pursue ECE in obtaining Ph.D. There are many career opportunities available for those with ECE backgrounds in Siemens, Intel, Texas Instruments, Infosys, Samsung, Philips Electronics, Conexant and Flextronics, Motorola, HCL Technologies Tech Mahindra, Wipro, and Accenture. Apart from this, there are career prospects in Indian telegraph industry, railways, Civil aviation, television business, Software Engineering, Hardware manufacturing, VLSI design, Power Sector, Communication technology, etc.
ECE is a well-developed area of engineering in the country, with many institutions providing courses in this field. Some of the institutes are the Indian Institutes of Technology (abbreviated as IITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (abbreviated as IIIT), National Institutes of Technology (abbreviated as NITs), etc. There are private institutions as well such as the Vellore Institute of Technology (abbreviated as VIT). ECE is now one of the most sought after courses in India, with a huge demand internationally. Despite the initial slow development, ECE has now grown into a full-fledged course with some of the most attractive potentials.
