CC Full Form is Carbon Copy. CC refers to the copy of a note or email sent to someone other than the main person intended. This is also called FCC or First Carbon Copy. This is often confused with BCC, which is the Blind Carbon Copy. Unlike CC, in BCC, the main recipient of the mail or notice will not be aware of the carbon copy sent to the other person. This is used more for a back up.
In CC you make the back up recipient visible to the main receiver of the mail whereas; in BCC the back up is hidden from the main receiver. The name CC is derived from the olden days of typewriters. To make additional copies of contents typed in a sheet, carbon papers were used under the main sheets. This would enable copies to be obtained as the matter is typed.
