AIRTEL Full Form? Well. The term Airtel is not an acronym. It is just the name of a company. Bharati Airtel Limited refers to a global telecommunications services company which is headquartered in New Delhi, India. The company operates in as many as 18 countries in Africa, South Asia, and the Channel Islands. Bharti Airtel, more commonly known as Airtel, provides Global Systems of Mobile Communications (abbreviated as GSM), 3G, and 4G mobile services, voice services, fixed line services whose provision depends largely on the country of operation. Airtel is the biggest mobile operator in the country and the third-largest across the globe. Prestigious agencies such as WPP pic and Milward Brown have ranked Airtel as the second most valuable Indian brand.
The contribution of Airtel has been ground-breaking, particularly in the business strategy of outsourcing of majorly all its business operations barring sales, marketing, finance, and building of what is called the minute’s factory model of high volumes and low cost. Ever since then, many telecommunications service companies have adopted this strategy in their business operations. The IT support is given by IBM whereas the equipment is managed by Nokia Solutions and Networks and Ericsson.
The company has entered into large-scale joint ventures with prominent companies such as Vodafone and Ericsson. In the year 2007, Guernsey Airtel and Jersey Airtel (both being subsidiaries of Airtel) announced the launch of mobile services in the Crown Dependency islands of Guernsey and Jersey under the banner Airtel-Vodafone. Similarly, in the year 2011, Bharti Group entered into a 5-year agreement with Ericsson in which the latter agreed to maintain the former’s mobile networks in the African continent.
