Full Form of AIADMK :
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam
AIADMK Full Form is All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. AIADMK is one of the Political parties in Tamil Nadu. This party was founded by Mr. M.G. Ramachandran (Popularly known as MGR) in the year 1972. It is presently headed by Ms. J.Jayalalithaa. Before the formation of AIADMK, Mr. MGR was a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) which was led by M. Karunanidhi, then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Mr.MGR and Mr. M. Karunanidhi were close friends when they were working in the Tamil film industry. In fact, Mr.MGR worked closely with Mr. M. Karunanidhi and he was very instrumental in bringing M. Karunanidhi to the Chief Minister position. But their relationship started souring soon after M. Karunanidhi became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Eventually, he parted ways with DMK and started his own political party which he named as All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
Ever since the year 1989, J. Jayalalithaa has been at the helm of the party. The party has entered into many coalitions and most of them have helped the party to win the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections seven times and thus, it is the most successful party of the state. The headquarters of the party are situated in Royapettah, Chennai, which was reportedly donated to it in the year 1986 by the wife of MGR, Janaki Ramachandran. The AIADMK is known to have distanced itself from anti-Hindi as well as the anti-Brahmin ideologies of its predecessor DMK party. MGR is known to have said that he opposed anti-Brahminism and ethnic exclusion.
There have been many controversies associated with the party and more infamously with the current head J. Jayalalithaa. She had been accused of promoting a personality cult, with party members and loyalists referring her as Amma. Her face is pasted on pharmacies, food canteens, laptop computers, medicine shops, cement bags, salt packets, etc in various parts of Tamil Nadu. During her imprisonment in the year 2014, massive protests broke out in the state demanding her release. The party is currently the strongest south Indian party in the country, alongside the DMK. It has an impressively strong following in Tamil Nadu, much of it is credited to J. Jayalalithaa.
