Full Form of AAP:
Aam Aadmi Party
AAP Full Form is Aam Aadmi Party. AAP is a political party in India. It was launched in the year 2012 and is presently ruling in Delhi. The differences regarding the politicization of the popular movement, called ‘India Against Corruption’, between the activists Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal led to the formation of this party. Hazare was of the opinion that the movement must not be aligned with the politics. Kejriwal, on the other hand, supported the direct involvement of politics due to the agitation route failure.
The party entered into the legislative assembly election that held in Delhi during the year 2013. In this election, it won twenty-eight seats out of the total seventy seats, thereby occupying the position of the second biggest party. Since an overall majority is not obtained by any party; a minority government was formed by AAP. The Indian National Congress gave conditional support for the same. A major portion of the party’s agenda consisted of passing the Jan Lokpal Bill in Delhi. Since other parties did not provide support for this bill, the government made by the AAP resigned after the elections. AAP reigned in Delhi for forty-nine days.
Sixty-Seven seats were won by AAP out of seventy seats in the legislative assembly elections held in Delhi in the year 2015. There are five organizational levels in the structure of AAP party. These are primary, district, national, block and state. The sub-divisions of the primary and block level are the primary unit and block council respectively. The sub-divisions of the district level are the council, executive, and committee for political affairs. The same holds true for the state and national level.
